Within the framework of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the founding of Mar del Plata, the ceremony of declaration of interest for the book “Secretos de Sal” at Municipal School Number 17. The councilor Mariana Cuestapresident of the Block of Councilors of Unión por la Patria, was in charge of carrying out the official delivery.

The event was attended by the authors of the book, Andrea Chulak and Mónica E. López, and the illustrator Verónica Delacroix, all natives and residents of Mar del Plata.

The ceremony included an emotional performance by two teenage violinists from the Municipal Infanto Juvenil Orchestra, who performed several songs together with the Mar del Plata clown Diana Sáez, who brought a touch of humor and joy to the event.

“Secretos de Sal” is a book that brings together stories and poems set in Mar del Plataillustrated with images from the “Roberto T. Barilli” Municipal Historical Archive. Published for the first time in 2015, it has been recognized for its cultural and educational value, integrating numerous pedagogical projects in public and private schools in the city. Furthermore, it has transcended borders, being used in educational institutions in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Cuba.

Andrea Chulak, teacher and actress, is also known for her songs for children’s plays and a musical. Mónica E. López, also a teacher, has ventured into literature for children and adults with works such as “Dear Mr. Plumafuente” and “El Niño Navel”. Together, they have created a book that not only educates but also fosters a sense of belonging and love for Mar del Plata.

Councilor Cuesta highlighted: “This book is an example of the talent and commitment of our local authors. In these 150 years of our city, it is an honor to recognize works that exalt our culture and heritage.”

The event culminated with a question session from the children to the authors, who responded with enthusiasm, and with the delivery of thank you cards made by the children, decorated with marine motifs.
