For this edition of CONTEC in Santiago de Chile, the second day is dedicated to exploring the trends, challenges and opportunities of audio formats in Spanish, a dynamic and booming market. In addition, the importance of the use of metadata and its impact on book sales will be addressed, one of the pending issues for book markets in Latin America.
And audio is gaining more presence every day in the Spanish book market. As Carlos Rojas Urrutia, head of content in Spanish for the Audiobook International division of Zebralution, expresses in this interview with the communication department of Contec «The evolution of the audio market is very encouraging. Music services are fully into audiobooks and a new platform or store appears every week.
CONTEC is the free, in-person meeting organized by the Frankfurter Buchmesse that marks the beginning of Chile’s path as Guest of Honor of the Frankfurt Fair in 2027. It takes place on July 9, 10 and 11 at the La Moneda Cultural Center in Santiago, with the support of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of Chile.

- Audio production. The recording, raw material of the audiobook. By Santiago Ramírez and Stephanie Preller, from Audiobuk. Audiobooks must be conceived from the same starting point from which books are born: a high-quality product must be made to attract readers. The Audiobuk team, a Chilean company that is a pioneer in the production of audiobooks in the Spanish language, will share in this workshop, in a practical way, the essential steps to bring a paper story to the sound world. - Correct management of metadata: advice and practice. By Ricardo Costa, general director of MVB Latin America. What are the basic requirements requested by book markets around the world to increase the visibility of publishers’ catalogs and increase their sales? This workshop will present the necessary metadata-based tools to increase commercial opportunities for publishers and booksellers.
