Before a large audience of businessmen from various sectors, economists Emilio Ocampo and Alfredo Romano presented their new book today Dollarized Argentina. Perspectives for a different economy (editorial Galerna).

With a foreword by businessman Alec Oxenford, founder of OLX, LetGo and Alpha Capital, in their book Ocampo and Romano analyze how the dynamics of Argentine politics and the prevailing institutional anomie have led the country to a critical point in which gradualism is not a viable option.

Ocampo and Romano They propose dollarization as the definitive instrument to eradicate inflation, an essential objective of any reform program. Thus, they maintain that with dollarization, governments would no longer have extreme short-term incentives at electoral times and would finally be able to truly stabilize the economy and growth.

“Dollarization is not a panacea. It will not solve all the problems facing the Argentine economy, but it resolves a very important one very forcefully: inflation. And eliminating inflation is a necessary condition, both politically and economically, to solve many other problems,” he indicated. Ocampo.

The presentation had a large audience.

For his part, Romano said: “Dollarize It would allow us to eradicate inflation, reduce public spending, advance with tax reform and open the economy, and it would put a limit on the collapse of populist governments. “Dollarization can be the kickoff of an extraordinary cycle for our country, because it opens the door to productivity, investment, private credit and a better business climate.”

A debate that interests businessmen

In a panel titled “Why dollarizing is the door to a new Argentina?” and moderated by Sergio Berensztein, the co-authors debated with Alec Oxenford and Eduardo Bastitta what it would be like to live in an Argentina that has the dollar as legal tender.

“The dollarization proposal emerges as a potentially transformative solution for the national economy. Dollarized Argentina proposes a rigorous and well-founded analysis of dollarization as an economic strategy, but it is more than a defense of this monetary policy; it is a call to rethink the system economic and political of the country,” said Alec Oxenford, founder of OLX, LetGo and Alpha Capital, and author of the publication’s foreword.

For his part, businessman Eduardo Bastitta highlighted: “The publication is a beacon of hope in the darkness of more than 20 years of crisis and more than 70 years since we lost our way. “A brave, realistic and well-founded proposal to return stability to the country and unleash its potential.”

The debate excited the hundred businessmen and economists from various sectors who listened attentively. “The detachment from the peso is a story of deep distrust in a vital institution like a country’s currency. That is why the debate on dollarization remains more current than ever. However, dollarization can solve many issues, but it does not solve all the problems, because the monetary issue is a necessary condition, but not a sufficient one. Ocampo and Romano make a fundamental contribution with this incisive, well-founded and very clearly written book,” concluded Berensztein.

The publication is already available in bookstores and can be purchased online at www.argentinadolarizada.com, a site that also allows users to browse the book through an artificial intelligence application.

Dollarized Argentina has 208 pages and is in the 15 x 23 cm format. Its binding is soft cover and the publisher is Galerna.
