Italdesign It is characterized by its daring designs and prototypes, a philosophy that it has not abandoned with the Quintessenza, a model presented in the Beijing Auto Show 2024 and that shows a successful combination of concepts with a most striking result.

Describing its bodywork is complicated, since it combines SUV features with proportions of coupe cut sedan, to which is added the fact that it only has two doors and, above all, that the rear window area can be completely dismantled, which transforms it into a a sort of ‘pick-up’.

It is a model of more than considerable size, with a length 5.56 meters which allows it to enjoy a wheelbase of 3.24 meters, creating considerable space inside for its four occupants.

Despite the spectacular nature of the vehicle, its most striking feature is found in its rear seats. These have been designed in a symmetrical way, That is, the footrest and headrest are identical, while the shape of the backrest is the same from top to bottom as from bottom to top.

What is the reason? In the standard position they face forward, as happens in any conventional car, but they can get down on themselves and turn back to change its orientation. So, occupants have the opportunity to look back and see the landscape with the roof removed.

This is a feature that could hardly be seen on a production model, but it explores the configuration possibilities of the vehicle’s interior.

100% electric mechanics

Although the Quintesssenza is a prototype that will not roll on the street, its propulsion system is completely electric.

The vehicle’s chassis is made of aluminum and has an 800-volt electrical system. It has a main motor that acts on the front axle, combined with two smaller ones, one integrated into each rear wheel. The set develops a power of 778 hp (580 kW) and allows you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds.

Ride one 150 kWh battery of capacity that gives it a range of 750 kilometers.
