A new ranking reveals that Asia has the cleanest airports in the world based on factors including the cleanliness of seats and toilets.

The 10 cleanest airports in the world have been announced, and only one hub in Europe makes the list.
In fact, the ranking is made up almost exclusively of airports in Asia, with the exception of Zurich, Switzerlandwhich occupies tenth place.
The research was carried out by airline rating organization Skytrax as part of its World Airport Awards.

Japan occupies four of the top 10 spots on the Skytrax list
Tokyo Haneda Airport occupied the first place as the cleanest airport in the world.
skytrax praised the cleanliness of floors, seating, public areas and bathrooms. In a world after COVIDthat is extremely important, according to the organization.
“After the COVID-19 pandemic, Airport cleanliness standards have become much more important for customers,” says Skytrax. “Airports that maintain these highest standards rank among the best in airport cleanliness.”
Haneda far led the way, not only globally but also in Japan.
In fact, the Asian nation boasts the first four places on the list: Centrair Nagoya in fifth place, Tokyo Narita in sixth and Kansai in seventh.
Outside of Japan, but still within Asia, Seoul Incheonin South Korea, ranked second and Singapore Changithe third.
Doha Hamad took fourth place, while Hong Kong and Taiwan Taoyuan took eighth and ninth place, respectively.
Completing the list was only one non-Asian airport, Switzerland’s Zurich.
What are the cleanest airports by region?
The Skytrax Awards also named the cleanest airport in each regionand Zurich, naturally, took first place in all of Europe.
Tokyo Haneda won for Asia and Doha Hamad took the prize for the Middle East.
In America, the main North American terminal was vancouver in Canada, that of South America was Quito in Ecuador and the cleanest airport in Central America and the Caribbean was awarded to the Costa Rican Juan Santamaria.
In Africa, Cape Town ranked first, Brisbane won for the Australia/Pacific region and Shanghai Hongqiao took the victory for China.
Bakufrom Azerbaijan, won in Central Asia and Bengaluru was Skytrax’s choice for India and South Asia.
In 2024 it will be 25 years since these emblematic awards were presented, which are based on customer satisfaction surveys at more than 570 airports of all the world.
Despite the renewed push for sustainable travel, flying remains very popular, with more than 8.5 billion passengers fly each year. A clean airport can only ease the often stressful experience.
