Ferrari 12Cilindri: retro inspiration and an 830 HP V12 for the new jewel of Maranello

chen everything seemed to be heading inevitably towards electrification – and it will, sooner or later –, Ferrari gives a breath of fresh air and renews the hopes of the most purists with a true tribute to its history and the V12: the new 12Cilindri (it reads Dodici Cilindri or “dódichi chilindri” as it would be pronounced), a very peculiar name but that makes a clear reference to its naturally aspirated engine, without turbos or any type of electrification.

Before knowing its mechanics, the first thing that catches your attention is its design. The front sector is a clear tribute to the 365 GTB Daytona from the late 1960s and this reinterpretation is very well done, combining the format of the original model with a modern and very technological style, with an inevitable Led signature along with a Black appliqué that unites the headlights and adds a touch of elegance. Below, the large air intakes with a carbon fiber frame. The entire bodywork shows clean surfaces, only with some lines and muscles that give it greater dynamism, thus giving shape to the typical silhouette of Ferrari coupes, with a long hood and the cabin pulled back. Another great solution is the rear trim, with a kind of dome that joins the rear window with the sides and the trunk lid, with parts in the body color and others in black.

Ferrari 12CilindriInside, it conveys a great feeling of sportiness and technology, with the prominence of three screens, one for the instruments, another for the multimedia system and another for the passenger. The dashboard has an almost symmetrical design, with a sector for the driver and another for the passenger, flanked by the air vents. Special mention for the seats, with a carbon fiber structure and an enveloping design.

Of course, the star of the set is its engine: it debuts the latest evolution of the Maranello firm’s 6.5-liter V12, with new titanium connecting rods and aluminum alloy pistons. It develops 830 HP and 678 Nm of torque, being able to reach 9,500 rpm and deliver 80% of the torque at just 2,500 revolutions. All its power is transmitted to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, from the SF90 Stradale. Thus, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 340 km/h.

Ferrari 12CilindriCreated as a successor to the 812 Superfast, the Italian brand hinted that its production will be quite limited. Its presentation took place before the Miami GP, both in coupe and Spider versions, both with the same features. Its arrival on the streets is scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2025, with an equally exclusive price: from 395,000 euros.
