“In order to do our part in society and promote STEM careers and vocations, we created the BTechGirls Club. The idea arose from participating in the Technovation Girl Madrid program, a competition for girls between 8 and 18 years old where teams work for three months to create a solution that responds to one of the sustainable development objectives through of technology,” he says. The club is made up of more than 200 members including parents, mentors and mentorstechnological professionals who guide and accompany the teams, and participants from the Technovation Girls groups, daughters of BBVA professionals, family members, friends or/and colleagues. The objective is to continue adding members of the Engineering team and the rest of the entity progressively.

The first date of the BTechGirls Club It took place a few weeks ago at the BBVA Data Processing Center (CPD) facilities in Madrid, where the girls and their parents had an immersive technology day. Alberto Jimenez Anguitaglobal head of IT operations at BBVA, welcomed the club members to then continue with an inspirational talk, workshops on ‘agile’ methodologies and cybersecurity, in addition to taking a guided tour where they were able to enter the CPD operations room and the ATM laboratory, among others.
