A brand of packaged arepas sold in South Florida is being withdrawn from the market due to a problem with the packaging, which does not warn of an ingredient that can cause allergies in consumers, the company that manufactures them explained.

Villa Nueva Interservices LLC. based in Lake Worth, is withdrawing “Arepas La Mejor”, in its presentation of 25-ounce packages of “Arepa de Choclo/Chocolo”, because it contains milk and is not informed on the packages. “People who have a severe allergy or sensitivity to milk are at risk of suffering a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” says the statement shared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). .

The product is distributed in supermarkets in South Florida.

No sick person has been reported from consuming the product.

The recall occurs since Arepa de Chocolo contains milk and was distributed in packaging that does not place milk among the ingredients. The company made the corrections in the packages.
