The Ministry of Mines and Energy announced that a series of adjustments were made to the tariff framework, in order to make effective the agreement with seven companies to benefit their users with a reduction in the electricity rate.
“It is arduous work, but it is advancing in order to respond to the national government’s commitment to tariff justice. With measures, efforts and dialogue, we advance in measures that make it possible to respond to the reduction of energy costs for users,” said Minister Andrés Camacho when presenting the new initiatives.
The Energy and Gas Regulation Commission (Creg) is advancing the issuance of a series of resolutions that are aimed at “achieving the necessary adjustment in electricity rates.”
One of these measures corresponds to draft resolution Creg 701 038 2024, which determines the remuneration for the activity of marketing electric energy to regulated users in the National Interconnected System.
In this regulation “the costs reported by the agent are disaggregated, the recognized costs are affected with an efficiency model, service quality incentives are integrated, the portfolio risk premium is updated and the variables are updated to provide liquidity to the market. ”.
It was also announced that draft resolution Creg 701 049 was published for comments. This initiative seeks to “verify” and “adjust” the stock market price as much as possible, so that it does not exceed the generation price of the last thermal plant dispatched.
“This measure reduces the prices of the generation component of the rate to the end user,” stressed the Ministry of Mines.
The other socialized project corresponds to document Creg 901 098 of 2024, “through which it seeks to define the signals in the maximum scarcity prices for each generation technology. This means that users will not pay higher prices to generation plants, when they can deliver their energy at low prices.”
It should be noted that the Ministry assured that it has received signals from other companies that also wish to be linked to these initiatives and “new achievements in this regard will be communicated soon.”
