The crisis that the health system in Colombia is going through is undeniable. Currently the Government has the large EPSs in intervention. The health system is in collapse, according to several sector experts. Despite the panorama, Salud Total is the only important EPS in Colombia that had positive profits last year; according to the Superintendency of Companies this indicator lbequeathed $101,756 million. In the Thousand Largest it is the 28th company by importance. Figures that are worth taking into account if you look at the health context.
Nueva EPS was intervened on April 3 by the National Health Superintendence; It has 11.18 million members.
Likewise, the second largest EPS in Colombia is in the power of the State: this entity affiliates more than 5.76 million patients. There is also Famisanar, Asmet Salud, Emssanar, Savia Salud, Western Health Service (SOS) and EPS Familiar de Colombia.
In total, the Government has more than 26 million people affiliated with the EPS. The country has also witnessed voluntary withdrawals, as is the case of EPS Sura and Compensar.who are carrying out a process of progressive dismantling of the health system.
Despite this panorama, there are seven EPS that are in good financial health. Five of them have less than 250,000 members.. Of this group, however, Salud Total stands out as the entity with the largest number of members: it has 4.87 million people, according to figures from the Ministry of Health.
The entity’s indicators are healthy. According to the latest report from the Thousand Largest Companies, Salud Total had revenues last year of $7.27 billion, a figure that represented a variation of 17%. The entity also had $101,756 million in profits, although this meant a drop of -41.27% compared to 2023.
Total Health is present in 17 cities through 15 branches and more than 270 municipalities. The departments and cities where the EPS is located are Cundinamarca, Atlántico, Antioquia, Santander, Valle del Cauca, Girardot, Tolima, Caldas, Quindío, Córdoba, Risaralda, Bolívar and Magdalena.
