A new look at Agatha All Along shows us Agatha Harkness’s “uncovened witches” and a familiar face from WandaVision among them
As it was expected, WandaVision He finally revealed that it had all been the work of Agatha from the beginning. The Scarlet Witch put an end to her machinations, leaving the villain trapped in her Agnes persona in Westview. However, Agatha will return in some capacity this September in the series titled Agatha All Along on Disney+, and according to head screenwriter Jac Schaeffer (WandaVision), will be accompanied by a “miscellaneous group of witches.”
A varied cast for a magical series
Among the new witches are Lilia, played by Patti LuPone, Jennifer, played by Sasheer Zamata, Sharon, played by Debra Jo Rupp, and Alice, played by Ali Ahn. We’re surprised to see Jo Rupp, as it seems there was a lot more to her character Mrs. Hart than meets the eye.
“What they have in common is that they are witches without a coven,” adds Schaeffer. “Witches are defined by deceit, betrayal, villainy and selfishness. What do you do when you have a group of witches demonstrating those concepts and you need them to work together?”
Games with the perception of witches
“While WandaVision played with the form of classic television sitcoms, here we play a lot with assumptions about witches,” Schaeffer continues. “What are the visual shortcuts for witches? We certainly didn’t want a one-dimensional evil witch. We will have moments where we see Agatha’s true heart.”
A new image of the Serie has also been revealed, showing Agatha’s new allies. The series will feature the return of many familiar faces from WandaVisionincluding Emma Caulfield Ford (Sarah Proctor), Debra Jo Rupp (Sharon Davis), David Payton (John Collins), David Lengel (Harold Proctor), Asif Ali (Abilash Tandon), Amos Glick (Dennis), Brian Brightman (Sheriff Miller) and Kate Forbes (Evanora Harkness).
The return of well-known characters
Of course, Kathryn Hahn will lead the cast, while other notable additions include Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili and Maria Dizzia.
Few official plot details have been revealed, though the story is expected to largely revolve around Agatha tracking down Billy Maximoff (or vice versa), who, like his comics counterpart, has been “reincarnated” as Billy Kaplan.
Revenge and legacy
Various leakers have claimed that the story will also feature the descendants of Evanora Harkness’s coven, now known as the Salem Sevenwho return to claim their revenge on the woman who killed their mothers.
The premiere of the Serie on Disney+ is scheduled for September 18. This series promises to delve deeper into the world of witches in the MCU, expanding the rich narrative that began with WandaVision.
