It continues to make history: the Fiat Cronos reached 400,000 units produced at the Ferreyra plant

ANDIt has been the best-selling sedan on the market for several years now and has the conditions to continue being so, thanks to its great price/product ratio, availability and the recognition that it has already earned by having Fiat’s experience in popular cars and the plus what it means to be produced in Argentina: the Cronos reached 400,000 units manufactured at the Ferreyra plant.

The unit that was the protagonist of this milestone was a Silverstone Gray Cronos that left the assembly line within the framework of an event that was attended by Martín Zuppi, General Director of Stellantis Argentina, and Glauber Fullana, Vice President of Production for Stellantis in Latin America together with the hundreds of workers who work in the Córdoba industrial complex. It is also worth highlighting that the sedan is currently the nationally produced car with the greatest integration of local parts (48%) and has been achieving a 9.1% market share in the total market.

Introduced in 2018, the Cronos quickly grew in sales until it reached the top spot in the car ranking and shortly after in the general ranking, being the best-selling vehicle of any type in Argentina, a position it has maintained for the third consecutive year. Another of its most important milestones was achieved in February 2022, when it reached a market share of 15.2%, Fiat’s best record since 1993, helping to consolidate the leadership of the Stellantis Group in Argentina. In addition, as we noted above, it stands out for being the one with the highest integration of national components: approximately one in two of its parts are manufactured by local SMEs.

Its latest update was launched in March of last year, with a redesign of its range, now made up of four versions: Like, Drive Pack Plus, Stile and Precision, the latter being the only one that remains unchanged compared to the MY2023 line. The Like 1.3 GSE version replaces the Attractive 1.3 GSE. Among the main new features that it incorporates, the 15-inch alloy wheels stand out as standard equipment along with body-color mirrors and handles (previously black).

Fiat Cronos 300,000 productionThe Drive Pack Plus 1.3 GSE version takes the place of the previous S-Design, from which it takes some items such as the 15” multi-spoke alloy wheels painted in black, the mirrors in piano black, the black front grill, logos and copper exterior finishes. The headliner along with its handles, the ceiling panel and the uprights are now black in this version, while the spoiler of the S-Design version is now marketed as a Mopar accessory.

The third new feature is the Stile 1.3 GSE version, which combines the details and equipment of the top-of-the-range model but with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It features 15” alloy wheels, chrome exterior trim, electrically folding exterior mirrors with courtesy light, darkened interior, leather steering wheel and upholstery, automatic climate control, front centre armrest and split rear seat, among other items.

The entire portfolio shares the well-known Firefly 1.3 gasoline engine with 99 HP and 13 kgm of torque, coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox or the CVT automatic transmission -exclusive for the Precision version-.
