The bakery presented its 2023 Annual Report: “Behind our actions” with progress on its 2030 and 2050 commitments.

Grupo Bimbo, the leading global baking company, presented its 2023 Annual Report: “Behind our actions.” In it, it revealed the progress of the business and the 2030 and 2050 objectives of its Sustainability Strategy.

Among the highlights of its “For Nature” priority, where the bakery works on regeneration, growth, circularity and the creation of a positive impact on the planet, is the announcement that the 93% of its packaging globally is made from recyclable materialsreinforcing its commitment to the circular economy. By 2025, it will aim to make 100% of its packaging recyclable, biodegradable or compostable.

It also reported progress on its path to becoming a company with Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050. Today 92% of its electricity globally already comes from renewable sources such as the sun and windHe added that the company has 2,693 electric delivery vehicles, for a total of 6,198 alternative fuel units.

Regarding his Regenerative Agriculture program, he highlighted that, In 2023, it exceeded its harvest goal under this practice, reaching more than 170,000 hectares of corn and wheat in Mexico, the United States, Canada and France.. During this period also trained more than 500 farmers. By 2050, 100% of the key ingredients in its products will come from lands cultivated under this initiative.

In its “For You” priority, focused on offering better nutritional profiles, plant-based diets and sustainable brands with a purpose, Grupo Bimbo reported that the 98% of its daily consumption products are free of artificial colors and flavors. Its whole grain portfolio was strengthened with new varieties thanks to the acquisition of the Natural Bakery company in Canada.

For its part, in the “For life” priority, aimed at strengthening its communities and taking care of its employees, Grupo Bimbo highlighted the realization of 263 community projects in 28 countries as part of the “Good Neighbor” program. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life of people who live or work around the Group’s work centers, which positively impacted more than 440 thousand people.

Finally, it stands out that in the Bimbo Global Race 2023 it had 330 thousand registered people who ran hybrid in 24 cities in 17 countriesThanks to this massive participation, the company donated more than 2.8 million slices of bread to food banks around the world.
