Netflix, the popular streaming platform, will stop supporting its app on certain Smart TV models starting July 24, 2024. The company reported that more than ten TV models manufactured more than a decade ago will lose access to the app.

This action is in addition to a previous measure that impacted devices from 2011 to 2013. Its purpose is to optimize resources and improve performance in more modern equipment, as explained by the company.

The affected televisions include several Sony series manufactured in 2014. AAlthough this may be a nuisance for some usersthere are several alternatives to continue using Netflix without having to purchase a new television.

  • X83 series.
  • S9 Series.
  • W5 series.
  • W6 series.
  • W7 series.
  • W70 Series.
  • X80 Series.
  • W85 series.
  • W95 series.
  • X85 Series.

If the Smart TV is not part of the aforementioned list of devices that will lose access to Netflix, It is recommended to implement the following steps to find the problem and a possible solution.

The first step is to make sure that the Smart TV is connected to the internet. Go to the TV settings and check the Wi-Fi connection. If the connection is not established, try reconnecting to the network. In some cases, restarting your router may help resolve connectivity issues.

Sometimes, simply restarting your TV can solve many problems. Turn off your TV, unplug it from the power source, wait a few minutes, and then turn it back on. This process may help restart applications and resolve temporary errors.

The problem may be caused by the TV’s software being out of date. Check for available software updates and make sure to install them. To do this, go to the TV settings, look for the software update option, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Before taking any further action, please check if the Netflix service is working properly. Sometimes problems can be caused by failures in the Netflix servers. You can check the status of the service by visiting the Netflix website or by using third-party sites that monitor server activity.

Another measure is to reinstall the application. (Photo: REUTERS)

Another option is to uninstall the Netflix app and then reinstall it. To do this, go to the application store on your Smart TV, search for Netflix, and select the uninstall option. Afterwards, search for the app again and reinstall it. This helps to fix issues related to corrupted files or incorrect settings.

Clearing the app cache can also be helpful. Although the process may vary depending on the brand and model of the TV, in general, this option can be found in the TV’s application settings. Find Netflix in the list of apps, select the option to clear the cache, and restart the app.

If you’ve tried all of the above solutions and still can’t access Netflix, consider resetting your TV to factory settings. Please note that this action will erase all custom settings and installed applications. To do this, look for the reset option in your TV settings.

If none of the above solutions work, you may need to contact your TV manufacturer’s technical support or Netflix support. They offer more specific assistance and, in some cases, perform repairs or replacements if the problem is caused by a hardware fault.
