The new computer service will be enhanced when the State puts out to tender the available spectrum bands, while users will be able to contract new plans with access to 5G, declared the corporation.

“Costa Rica deserves its transition to the fifth generation and we are working to immediately enable this new experience,” said Johanna Escobar, general manager of Liberty, quoted by Teletica channel.

The executive recalled that Liberty has been ready “to make the leap to 5G” for two years, when we launched our brand, and we decided not to wait any longer.

The new network service will initially focus on the areas with the highest mobile data traffic in the Greater Metropolitan Area, which will also improve the experience on the 4G LTE Pro network.

This new network, which operates on Liberty’s current spectrum, will be strengthened once the Government auctions the available spectrum bands, said the institution’s general manager.

We are thinking about a new highway, he explained. Today we inaugurate it and it will allow us to enjoy great benefits, such as better speeds and higher latency.

According to the expert, once we have that spectrum, we will be able to ride this 5G highway and create a mega-highway, with overpasses and more lanes.

“But the first step, the definitive one,” he said, “is this one that we take today as pioneers of this technology in the country.”

Press media commented that this launch will allow Costa Rica to leave the list of countries without 5G, according to the World Association of Mobile Operators.
