Jeff Bridgesfamous 74-year-old actor and Oscar winner, has announced that he is in remission after being diagnosed with lymphoma in 2020. During his attendance at the 49th Chaplin Prize Gala, Bridges revealed to PageSix his positive state of health and reflected on his close experience with death during treatment in 2021.

“My health is great”said the actor remembered for his iconic role in The Big Lebowski. Bridges also expressed that he doesn’t spend much time reflecting on his fight against the disease, emphasizing his relief at overcoming that difficult time.

“Being a victim of a disease like this teaches you a lot”, he commented in an interview with Page Six. “It’s amazing how the mind can leave all that behind. I’m not thinking too much about the past”, detailed the Hollywood veteran.

Bridges initially shared his diagnosis of lymphoma, a cancer that affects the lymphatic system, in October 2020 via Twitter. On that occasion, a little over three years ago, Jeff highlighted the serious challenge of facing his illness, but he also showed great optimism.

“Although it is a serious illness, I feel lucky to have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good.. “I am going to start treatment and will keep you informed of my recovery,” Bridges wrote in the aforementioned post.

In accordance with his promise, Bridges kept his followers informed about his progress, indicating in December 2020 how his treatment was going. “Two months later, I feel good”he declared in a publication on his website.

On that same platform, Bridges reflected on his closeness to death during his fight against cancer, which made him value life even more. “I was close to death, but that made me appreciate life in a deeper way”he claimed.

“Although I had moments of tremendous pain (singing loudly, a kind of moan throughout the night) as I approached the Pearly Gates, in general, I felt happy and cheerful most of the time,” said the artist.

As a final reflection, Bridges wrote his greatest understanding of the entire experience he had to go through: “This brush with mortality has brought me a true gift: LIFE IS BRIEF AND BEAUTIFUL. LOVE SURROUNDS US AND IS AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES”.
