The singer Ed Sheeran33 years old, has surprised the public by revealing that he has not had a phone mobile since 2015. Sheeran explained that the decision to get rid of his phone has helped improve his social and creative interaction. “I felt very, very overwhelmed and sad when using it. “I didn’t cut off contact with people, I just limited it.”

“I haven’t had a phone.”Sheeran said. “I got rid of it in 2015… I found out I had the same number since I was 15 and I became famous and had 10,000 contacts on my phone. “I was missing real-life interaction, so I got rid of it.”

Instead of a mobile phone, Sheeran has chosen to use a iPad. He explained that he shifts all of his communication commitments to email, dedicating an hour to it once a week to catch up. “I have an hour of my time on Thursday or Friday, I usually sit in the car. I send all the emails, I catch up, I talk to whoever and that’s it,” said the artist.

The star also shared that this decision has had a huge impact on her creative process. According to Sheeran, the absence of a phone has allowed him to focus better on his music. “I go to dinner with my wife and she goes to the bathroom at a restaurant, and sometimes it can take a while, and usually 10 years ago I would take out my phone and scroll through Instagram, but when I’m sitting there doing nothing, that’s when I think about a lyric or a melodySheeran said.

I interact with people. I’m not wondering if someone is calling me. I don’t know, I think it’s the best way to interact with people. When I go to dinner with my wife I am present 100%. Before I would be answering messages or watching, I don’t know what,” Sheeran said about his habits with the device prior to this change.

Another topic of interest was the singer’s alcohol consumption. For his single “Bad Habits” and whether he had really stopped all of his old habits. Sheeran admitted that not all: “I love wine and beer, those are my vices, but I have stopped smoking”. She explained that she decided to lead a healthier life so she could take care of her daughter at any time, in addition to improving her physical condition.

Regarding his lifestyle change, Ed Sheeran shared how his daughter has influenced his physical well-being. He explained that he used to take his daughter and her toys to the gym while he trained: “That made me healthier.”, he commented. “I started drinking more water and feeling better, so I did it more. The clothes fit me better and people started telling me that I was prettier and younger.”

“Well… One stupid day I drank two bottles of wine,” he recalled about his habits prior to these big changes in his lifestyle.

In addition to these confessions, Sheeran spoke about the constant pressure in his industry to always be connected. “You don’t have to be answering emails at midnight.” He pointed out that having a cell phone can deteriorate the quality of personal and professional relationships, since face-to-face conversation is replaced by constant messages. “When I see people, since I don’t have a cell phone, the conversation is more real. We catch up, whereas if you are texting all the time you have nothing to talk about.”
