Russell Crowe confesses to being uncomfortable with Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2

Russell Crowe spoke about the sequel to Gladiator, the iconic historical action film from Ridley Scott 2000 that allowed him to win various awards including an Oscar as best Actor with his character of the Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius.

It was during an interview given to the program Kyle Meredith With that Russell Crowe, 60, said he felt “slightly uncomfortable” with Gladiator 2the film that will star Paul Mescal as Lucius, nephew of King Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix.

In that sense, Crowe recalled that Maximus Decimus died at the end of the feature film, which is why he maintained that he does not pay attention to Scott’s new project recorded almost 24 years after the first installment.

“I feel slightly uncomfortable with the fact that they are making another (Gladiator) movie because, of course, I am dead and I have no say in what is done (…) But a couple of things I have heard make me think ‘no ‘No, no, that’s not in the moral journey of that particular character.’ But I can’t say anything, it’s not my place, I’m underground. So we’ll see how it turns out,” he declared.

Next, the actor mentioned that Gladiator was one of the films that allowed him to “open the doors” of various projects in Hollywood. “This is being purely honest: there is definitely a touch of melancholy, a touch of jealousy,” he added.

And that’s it,” Crowe said during an appearance at the Karlovy Vary Film Festivalaccording to Variety.
