The relationship between the vocalist of The 1975, Matt Healyand pop superstar Taylor Swift, seems to have no end. Despite their brief romance in 2023, the couple continues to generate a stir on social media and among their fans.
It all started when Healy posted the song “So I” by Charli XCX on her Instagram, a song dedicated to her late friend Sophia. The song’s lyrics, which talk about “always” having someone on your mind after “pushing them away,” sparked a wave of speculation among Swift’s fans.
Reactions to Healy’s possible reference to Swift were mixed. Some fans interpreted the post as a romantic gesture toward her ex-partner, while others defended it as a simple act of support for her friend Charli XCX.

Amid this uproar, an entry from Swift’s diary from 2009 resurfaced, where the singer appears to reflect on being the “girlfriend before the one.”

The comment sparked widespread debate online, with another user bluntly replying: “We need a new psychological term for a contemporary form of narcissism that is somehow not reflected internally on the self, but on the object of a standom.”
Healy, tired of the drama, liked a screenshot of this response when it was shared on Instagram, reflecting his agreement with the critics.
This controversy on social networks occurs a week after Us Weekly reported that the musician found Swift’s latest album funny, The Tortured Poets Department, even though it initially “surprised” him. The family of the lead singer of The 1975 also spoke out, and, according to the magazine People“they were worried that Taylor was going to destroy it.”
The album project, which includes songs about her ex-partner, Joe Alwyn, and her current boyfriend Travis Kelce, also contains some songs that were related to her brief affair with Healy.
