One of the strategic priorities of OBRAMAT, the leading retail company for the distribution of materials in the Construction and Renovation market, is the care for the well-being and safety of its more than 5,600 Employees, since they are its reason for being and are located at the center of the company.

Laura Serrano, Safety Leader at OBRAMAT, analyzes the data and affirms that the awareness and involvement of all collaborators is key: “Thanks to the continuous improvement of our Safety Culture, which is formalized through our ‘Safe Environment’ commitment, “We have the clear objective of achieving ZERO accidents for both our Collaborators and Clients.”

Safety Week at Work

During this week OBRAMAT celebrates with more focus the success of achieving a safe environment. Therefore, with a fun and competitive dynamic, he encourages his collaborators to identify possible potential risks to continue in the bid for security success.

In addition, the SAFE PLACE TO WORK awards are launched, which will reward the Warehouses with the best behavior in terms of safety.

Occupational risk prevention system

OBRAMAT works actively to guarantee the work performance of its collaborators in the best safety conditions, in a safe and quality environment. And to achieve this objective, we work daily to build a strong safety culture, known and shared by all company personnel. As a result, OBRAMAT managed to reduce accidents by 80% in the last five years.

With its own Prevention Service, whose priority is to guarantee the well-being and safety of employees through the development and implementation of the principles included in its Preventive Policy, it provides coverage to all work centers in the specialties of Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics. and Psychosociology.

In addition, it also has an External Prevention Service, coordinated by the company’s Prevention Service, which covers the specialties of Health Surveillance and Safety at Work. OBRAMAT also has Health and Safety Committees in each center, to promote the participation and consultation of collaborators on a regular and periodic basis and to jointly define the company’s actions in matters of safety and health.

In order to achieve these ambitious objectives, OBRAMAT relies on different figures and activities:

  • Safety tutors in each warehouse who are responsible for auditing security conditions, informing and guiding the entire team. They carry out “safety tours” of the destination warehouse for new collaborators so that they know the risks of their mission and warehouse, and what measures are to avoid them. The tutor carries out an individual evaluation on security knowledge. In Spain, OBRAMAT has 24 security tutors per warehouse, this is a total of 864 tutors, which corresponds to 16% of the total Collaborators.
  • Safety Culture Creation Programs in newly opened warehouses.
  • They are made safety contests in warehouses in order to identify potential risks.
  • Use of internal tools in each warehouse to consistently communicate relevant safety topics.
  • Biweekly meeting of Warehouse Directors with the Prevention Service to analyze the most significant risks and incidents and build and mainstream preventive measures.
  • Economic quarterly security premiums based on good security dynamics. Warehouses that exceed one year, two years and 1000 days without accidents are recognized in different categories.
  • Training, evaluation and training in the safe use of machinery with continuous training of users and in accordance with the UNE application standard.
  • Active participation in international work teams of the Adeo Group which, aligned with the ADEO Safety Reference, develop new preventive measures and improvements.

Health in the work environment

In line with its commitment to creating a safe environment for collaborators and clients, OBRAMAT also has a pioneering program regarding musculoskeletal health.

After analyzing the physical and ergonomic load of the tasks carried out in the different warehouse missions with specific studies through risk assessments and the use of the latest technologies such as isokinetic sensors, the company has implemented a physiotherapy service to protect everyone. his collaborators. The Service is implemented in the warehouses when they reach one year from the opening date and is offered an average of two days a week in spaces set up in the warehouses for the greater comfort of the collaborator, within their working day. With the same spirit, OBRAMAT offers collaborators other health aid, such as a 50% subsidy for the Adeslas health card.

“We want to have a positive impact on our environment, and what better way than to collaborate in reducing the accident rate in a sector, construction and renovation, where it is one of the highest in Spain” concludes Serrano.
