The Bio Bío Regional Prosecutor’s Office could activate an extradition process in the case of false mammograms carried out by the Novakimen laboratory. For this fact, there are already two detainees.

The measure targets a Venezuelan doctor with an arrest warrant, who would have returned to Venezuela before the investigation began.

The investigation process began due to complaints and complaints filed by eight municipalities of Bío Bío. These would have opted for the services of the Novakimen laboratory, to perform mammograms on more than a thousand women who are treated in primary health.

However, many of the tests were not carried out, others were carried out, but the results were adulterated, and even signed by professionals who never worked for the laboratory.

The investigation was formalized for the crimes of fraud, perjury, falsification of a public instrument and identity theft against the legal representative of Novakimen, Roberto Ruiz Lizama, and also against the Venezuelan doctor, Carmen Martínez Flores.

In addition to these two people, an arrest warrant was issued for a third Venezuelan doctor, identified as Audie Ferreira Barbosa.

Prosecutor María José Aguayo explained that this person should also have been formalized, which was not achieved, since the professional left Chile, and therefore could not be arrested.

Aguayo commented that the proceedings now aim to find Ferreira’s whereabouts, and after that the Public Ministry will begin the extradition process.
