MADRID, June 23. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Student unions and opposition groups have been leading a wave of protests in India for two days after learning of the leak of the questions for an entrance exam for a medical degree that the authorities have refused to repeat.

The results published on June 4 of the so-called National Entrance Examination for Undergraduates, or NEET-UG, revealed that an extremely high number of participants had achieved the perfect score of 720 points. At first, the authorities attributed this high percentage to a grace measure when withdrawing a poorly formulated question.

However, as the days went by, the investigation ended up revealing the existence of a group specialized in exam leaks that began to pass the test questions on social networks, starting with the state of Bihar, according to the investigations carried out. by the Indian network NDTV.

For now, the scandal has claimed the position of the director of the country’s National Testing Agency, Subodh Kumar Singh, fired this past Saturday for negligence, and caused the postponement of the NEET for postgraduate students, which in theory was going to take place this Sunday.

The Ministry of Education, after acknowledging “irregularities” but without canceling the test, has constituted a high-level committee of experts “to ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct” of future exams, while the country’s opposition leader, Rahul Gandhi has pointed directly at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose Bharatiya Janata Party he has accused of “hijacking” Indian educational institutions.
