“Damien Hirst is the British artist internationally renowned that everyone knows. We will have from completely new series that we have never seen until most classic series of his work, such as ‘Natural History’ and the formaldehyde animals that made him famous in the early 90s,” says Rozet.

Architecture as a link between Provence, its vineyards and its light

The ‘Natural History’ It is located in the Renzo Piano building built in the groove of the vineyards, while ‘The Empresses’ is exhibited in a building in the middle of the forest. It also exhibits the series ‘Paintings of the Secret Gardens’.

“The architecture It is a medium (although I don’t know if we can call it that), a very important art in this field. The first work of art to be installed were the wine cellars of Jean Nouvel, the French architect, and then Tadao Ando, Franck Gehry, Renzo Piano, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Niemeyer… They have all created slightly different places, but they are pavilions quite humble that allow us to host other exhibitions and therefore other artists,” adds Rozet.

The architecture looks like the ideal bond between the land of Provence, its vineyards and its light. A farm surrounded by nature thus becomes the perfect setting for works of art.

‘The Light That Shines’ by Damien Hirst can be visited at Chateau La Coste Until June 23.
