Who are the nine doctors accused of the death of Alejandro Cohn?

After this, the patient entered the intensive care room, where he was in charge of Darío Ricardo Campos.

The doctor Darío Ricardo Campos (56), one of those with the most experience, is mainly accused of serious medical negligence. He is accused of failing to provide adequate diagnosis and treatment to Cohn when the latter was admitted to the hospital.

The head of therapy is also accused of acting negligently the day after the patient’s admission, contributing to his neurological deterioration and eventual death. According to his story, when he entered the guard, the 35-year-old was already in poor general condition and on assisted breathing.

On July 29 at 2 a.m., Campos ordered Cohn’s transfer to Italiano. An hour later, in this last health center, they performed various studies and confirmed the severity of his condition. At 8:00 he died, the cause of death being hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.

Montagna (58), Sánchez (58), Toro Solano (40) and Setti (39) are accused of medical negligence for not acting appropriately.

All of them were in the hospital when Cohn was admitted and did not diagnose him or provide treatment, which led to him being without the necessary assistance in one of the most critical moments. He was in a box for several minutes without being attended to by any of them.

Cohn, he maintained, arrived stable and conscious at the hospital and then transferred him to the shock room, informing the doctors on duty that he had noticed him dehydrated, handing over the patient’s medical history. The 10th doctor who was dismissed

According to witnesses, a woman who was with her daughter observed the sequence and stopped her car to ask her if she needed medical assistance. Alejandro told him that he was dizzy, they called an ambulance and took him to the Melchor Posse hospital.

According to the testimonies revealed by the complaint, once they arrived, in the guard, Alejandro answered all the questions they asked him, which shows that I was fully aware. Nothing strange until that moment, he simply remained lying on a stretcher, since his blood sugar level had dropped, something common for a diabetic patient.

Minutes later his father arrived, who knew what was happening to Alejandro thanks to the warning from the woman who helped him on the street. The man asked that his son be treated and the hospital staff took Alejandro to another sector of the guard.

Hours later, they informed the family that Alejandro was in a coma, intubated in intensive care, without any type of explanation as to how it had ended up in that state.

Two days later, a doctor who was a friend of the family requested a consultation and recommended that they remove him from the hospital, since he understood that he was not receiving the care he needed.

They managed to take him to the Italian hospital, where other doctors examined him and found that He was brain dead and had multiple injuries. They could do nothing to save his life. At only 35 years old he died on July 29.

The autopsy revealed that he had fractures throughout almost his entire body. In the same Italian hospital they filed a complaint for having received a patient in conditions that were not compatible with the accompanying documentation.

This Thursday the second hearing of the debate will take place, in which Mariano and his parents, Beatriz Arroyo and Mario Cohn, are expected to testify. Mariana Masotti and Cecilia Sanguinetti, the two women who helped Alejandro when he fell ill on the street, are also expected to be there.
