To celebrate the Children’s Day 2024, KFC will implement an innovative thematic space inspired by sponge Bob and his friends, known as “Under the sea”. This atmosphere will be available at the chain’s restaurant located in Satellite cityspecifically at Boulevard Manuel Ávila Camacho number 2248, municipality of Naucalpan, State of Mexico.

The activation of this unique space will begin on April 25 and will conclude on May 2, providing minors with a memorable experience with their favorite characters from the bottom of the sea.

SpongeBob’s foray into KFC as a collectible figure marked the first step towards the creation of this playful space, designed specifically for the enjoyment of the little ones. The “Under the Sea” concept seeks to offer children a place where they can interact, play and enter the universe of SpongeBob SquarePants and his gang.

KFC’s strategy is aimed at attracting families to the store, offering an unforgettable experience for children, while they enjoy their favorite brand products.

In addition to entering the underwater world of SpongeBob SquarePants, KFC customers have the opportunity to purchase collectible figures of the character and his companions. These figures are available for a starting price of 119 pesos.

On the other hand, minors can enjoy a Kids Bucket accompanied by a SpongeBob figure for 139 pesos, with various options including chicken pieces, strips, nuggets, kruncher and popcorn.

With this initiative, KFC seeks not only to celebrate Children’s Day, but also to reinforce its commitment to creating memorable family experiences, while increasing interaction with one of the animated series most loved by children and young people.

SpongeBob SquarePants, iconic television animation character, officially debuted on May 1, 1999 in Nickelodeon. Created by Stephen Hillenburg, a marine biologist turned animator, SpongeBob SquarePants began as an animated series aimed at children, but quickly caught the attention of teenagers and adults for its absurdist humor and originality. The series focuses on the adventures and misadventures of SpongeBob SquarePants, an anthropomorphic sea sponge with an optimistic and energetic personality, and his various friends in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom.

Hillenburg, inspired by his love of the ocean and his career as a marine educator, blended his scientific knowledge with his artistic talent to create an underwater world filled with memorable characters. In addition to SpongeBob SquarePants, the series features characters such as Patricio Estrella, a dim-witted but kind-hearted starfish; Squidward Tentacles, a bitter squid and SpongeBob’s neighbor; Sandy Cheeks, a scientific squirrel who lives under the sea in an air suit; and Mr. Eugenio Cangrejo, the ambitious owner of the restaurant where SpongeBob SquarePants, the Krusty Krab, works.

The SpongeBob SquarePants series stood out for its ability to combine slapstick comedy with more sophisticated humor, wordplay, and cultural satire, which made it a global phenomenon. Its popularity extended beyond television, giving rise to films, merchandise, video games, and a significant presence in popular culture.

To date, SpongeBob SquarePants has been adapted into three films: “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie” (2004), which served as an epic conclusion to the series’ plot up to that point; “SpongeBob SquarePants: A Hero Out of Water” (2015), which mixed animation with live action; and “SpongeBob SquarePants: The Rescue” (2020), an adventure that explored the origins of the friendship between SpongeBob SquarePants and Gary, his pet snail.

These film adaptations have allowed the SpongeBob universe to expand, introducing new characters and exploring deeper themes, all while maintaining the humor and charm that made the series a benchmark in animation.

With more than two decades on the air, SpongeBob SquarePants has proven to be more than a children’s series; is a symbol of creativity and humor that transcends generations, staying relevant and loved by audiences of all ages around the world.
