Airbnb has presented Icons, a set of accommodation experiences inspired by movies, art or sports

Airbnb will allow you to stay and sleep in places that until now only belonged to the collective imagination. In an attempt to attract VIP clients, the vacation rental company has presented Icons, the name of the project that brings together different accommodations inspired by series, movies, music, art and the world of sports.

Initially they were put up for rent 11 different accommodations, distributed in different places around the world and that they will be available on certain dates. Airbnb explains that many of these accommodations will actually be free or cost less than $100 per night. These are more accommodations that will be distributed as a raffle and prizes for Airbnb users.

Total 4,000 tickets by 2024, although expectedly starting next year these houses will be used again. At the moment it is unknown whether charging interested parties, continuing with the promotions or as the beginning of a larger strategy that involves creating special accommodations.

Of the 11 accommodations that debut Icons, we find some very mythical ones. Probably the most striking is the house from ‘Up’, the iconic house from the Pixar film that has been recreated in Abiquiu, New Mexico. It has 8,000 balloons and yes, It also floats thanks to the use of a large crane.

We also find the X-Men’s X-Mansion. Located in Westchester, New York and decorated in a 2D style. It has four rooms and has more than 100 exclusive pieces and decorations.

We have the possibility of spending a night at the Ferrari Museum, in Maranello; spend a night with Kevin Hart and his friends; a night at the Orsay Museum, staying in the exclusive room Prince bought for Purple Rain; spending nights with celebrities like Khaby Lame, Janhvi Kapoor or Feid, as well as staying in a house inspired by the upcoming ‘Inside Out 2’, where the room will be like the control center for Riley’s emotions.

As we see, we have to promote exclusive places where no one has been able to sleep; take advantage of the pull of famous people or directly create entire accommodations as promotional experiences.

The strategy of creating special accommodations based on famous houses is not new. In September 2023, Airbnb collaborated with Dreamworks to recreate Shrek’s famous swamp so you can spend a night there. Also offered is the Dreamhouse from the Barbie movie or McAllister’s house in ‘Home Alone’.

With the launch of Icons, Airbnb materializes and encompasses in one place all these exclusive accommodations, very attractive for fans of the films and the characters on which they are based.
