Although it is said that the relationship between Negrete and Marín ended because he discovered that she was unfaithful to him with Abel Salazar, her ex-fiancé before starting her romance with “Charro Cantor”, this was not Gloria’s only betrayal.

After many decades Armando Silvestre revealed in a television interview that during the filming of Witch Corner In 1949, he and Marín they had an intimate meeting which was almost discovered by Negrete.

One afternoon in August 1949, the situation became critical when the “Charro Cantor” arrived at the house he shared with Marín, carrying a serenade for his beloved. However, Negrete noticed that his partner Silvestre’s car was parked outside the house, which put him on alert.

Upon noticing Negrete’s arrival, Marín urgently asked Silvestre to hide in the closet. until his partner left: “He tells me, go into the closet.” Silvestre agreed, fearfully, while Negrete began his serenade outside the house. Then, upon entering, Jorge asked about the vehicle he had seen outside. Marin insisted that the car’s owner had just left the car parked and driven away.

Meanwhile, Silvestre experienced moments of real panic while sharing the closet with a life-size image of Negrete, fearing that Negrete would surprise him and decide to wait to confront him. After a brief and heated argument, Negrete gave up and left, without discovering Silvestre.

In subsequent interviews, Armando recalled this episode and assured that Negrete always loved Gloria Marín, even until the end of his days. Despite the deep love they shared, the relationship ended after being together for 11 years, but when Negrete discovered another of Marín’s infidelities, this time with Abel Salazar.

Silvestre also suggested that Jorge Negrete married María Félix out of spite, since the actress was the one most detested by Gloria Marín. According to him, this was a way to hurt her ex-partner and maintain a kind of emotional revenge.
