After his confession, the judge of the Tecero Guarantee Control Court of Envigado sent Julián Alberto Quintero Agudelo – butler of music producer Daniel Alejandro Velásquez Franco – to a prison center. known as Dr. Velásquez – who on June 14 admitted being the murderer of the artist and his partner in the early hours of June 8.

It should be remembered that in a statement to the Prosecutor’s Office, Julián Alberto Quintero would have confessed that he acted under the influence of alcohol and anger, triggered by the fact that Velásquez had told him that his mother, Blanca Agudelo, He could not continue living in the house due to his hostile treatment towards the producer’s new partner, his girlfriend Sofía Riascos Valdéz.

Before the confession, the 113th section prosecutor had detailed that around 3:00 am that Saturday, the men were drinking liquor in Velásquez’s luxurious house, located in the Acuarela parcel of the Las Palmas de Envigado neighborhood. From one moment to the next, they began to discuss family issues in which, according to Quintero, Velásquez began to verbally abuse the butler’s mother, sister and niece, who was the music producer’s ex-wife.

Then, following the ultimatum that the music producer made to Julián Alberto, who worked as butler of the house-estate in which the well-known musician lived, Julián took a nine-millimeter pistol-type weapon and shot Velásquez once. The shot to the head was accurate, causing instant death to the producer.

The Prosecutor’s Office also indicated that Quintero then left the place where he was drinking liquor with Dr. Velázquez, entered the house, and arrived at the room where Sofía was sleeping.approached him and, like his romantic partner, shot him in the head and in various parts of the body.

He then covered the body with a sheet and then went down to the first floor of the house and tried to cover up his crime, getting rid of the weapon in a bush. Likewise, he called the parcel security guard and asked him to call the Police. Officers arrived and found the crime scene. Quintero made the story known initially: He said he had gone out to buy liquor at a store and when he arrived he found the couple dead. Additionally, he handed authorities another gun in an attempt to derail the investigation.

Later, after the forcefulness of the arguments of the Prosecutor’s Office, according to it, Quintero confessed that he was the author of the events.

The prosecutor handling the case insisted that the music producer and his partner were attacked in a vulnerable state., so the sentence against Quintero could increase. And in the last hearing he again requested the intramural measure against the butler.

Despite his confession and that he voluntarily surrendered along with the alleged murder weapon, at the guarantee control hearing Quintero He did not accept the charges against him.

On the other hand, the butler’s defense points out that the man’s written confession would not have been signed by him nor would it have been achieved in the terms required by law, since the defense argued that self-incrimination was not viable for the case at the procedural moment that was obtained.

The defense also pointed out that there would be some irregularities in the taking of the confession during an interrogation, Therefore, he expressed his objections to this and asked the judge to dismiss it from the body of evidence.

In the judge’s summary it was learned that the butler Quintero had been working with the music producer on the property for about a year and a half. It was also learned that apart from the initial excuse that after going for a drink he found the two victims dead, Quintero had also later indicated that he had gone to turn off the lights on the property when he heard a gunshot.

Subsequently, he spotted a shadow and proceeded to allegedly shoot the shadow with a traumatic weapon that he was carrying. However, to another person, the same butler indicated that at the time of hearing the detonation he had seen a dark truck leaving; However, he did not mention anything to that other interlocutor about the shots that he supposedly fired with the weapon. It was also detailed that Quintero did not have the right to carry the weapons involved in the crime.

Although the Prosecutor’s Office requested preventive detention, Quintero’s defense requested house arrest alleging, among some reasons, security reasons.

However, at the end of the hearing the judge decided to send Julián Quintero to a penitentiary center – which Inpec will rule on. under the figure of preventive detention while the accused remains linked to the process.

“For this judiciary there is a reasonable inference of authorship or participation against Mr. Julián as it can be deduced that there is a material and legal attribution of the crimes charged by the Prosecutor’s Office in that degree of probability of homicides in circumstances of aggravation given the defenselessness of the victims and that Daniel was murdered with a shot fired from behind while Sofía was murdered when she was asleep“explained the judge.

The decision was appealed by the butler’s defense, which will present its arguments to a judge to reverse it.

As a result of this, Quintero must be behind bars in the penitentiary center determined by Inpec while the judicial process that seeks to completely clarify the murder of the producer and his partner is carried out.
