After his confession, the judge of the Tecero Guarantee Control Court of Envigado sent Julián Alberto Quintero Agudelo – butler of music producer Daniel Alejandro Velásquez Franco – to a prison center. known as Dr. Velásquez – who on June 14 admitted being the murderer of the artist and his partner in the early hours of June 8.

The prosecutor handling the case insisted that the music producer and his partner were attacked in a vulnerable state., so the sentence against Quintero could increase. And in the last hearing he again requested the intramural measure against the butler.
Despite his confession and that he voluntarily surrendered along with the alleged murder weapon, at the guarantee control hearing Quintero He did not accept the charges against him.
On the other hand, the butler’s defense points out that the man’s written confession would not have been signed by him nor would it have been achieved in the terms required by law, since the defense argued that self-incrimination was not viable for the case at the procedural moment that was obtained.
The defense also pointed out that there would be some irregularities in the taking of the confession during an interrogation, Therefore, he expressed his objections to this and asked the judge to dismiss it from the body of evidence.
In the judge’s summary it was learned that the butler Quintero had been working with the music producer on the property for about a year and a half. It was also learned that apart from the initial excuse that after going for a drink he found the two victims dead, Quintero had also later indicated that he had gone to turn off the lights on the property when he heard a gunshot.
Subsequently, he spotted a shadow and proceeded to allegedly shoot the shadow with a traumatic weapon that he was carrying. Although the Prosecutor’s Office requested preventive detention, Quintero’s defense requested house arrest alleging, among some reasons, security reasons.
However, at the end of the hearing the judge decided to send Julián Quintero to a penitentiary center – which Inpec will rule on. under the figure of preventive detention while the accused remains linked to the process.
“For this judiciary there is a reasonable inference of authorship or participation against Mr. Julián as it can be deduced that there is a material and legal attribution of the crimes charged by the Prosecutor’s Office in that degree of probability of homicides in circumstances of aggravation given the defenselessness of the victims and that Daniel was murdered with a shot fired from behind while Sofía was murdered when she was asleep“explained the judge.
The decision was appealed by the butler’s defense, which will present its arguments to a judge to reverse it.
