In 2018, the music world came to a standstill after learning of the sudden death of Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii, at the age of 28. The sad events surrounding his death prompted his family to take action and create an organization to raise awareness about mental health.

Avicii’s father remembers his death

Klas Bergling, father of the Swedish DJ, is still shocked by the painful loss of his son. In a recent interview with ‘BBC’, he opened up and spoke about the importance of raising awareness among the population about mental health issues.

“I miss him every minute”were the first words that Bergling said to the international media.

Avicii’s growth occurred explosively. At 16 she began posting her remix on electronic music forums. By 2011, she rose to fame with the single ‘Levels’.

During the following years his career was on the rise, but when he was 26 years old he retired from live shows. At that time, the DJ informed his followers that he would focus on his physical and mental health.

Despite focusing on himself. Two years later, authorities confirmed that he took his own life in his hotel room in Oman.

Klas Bergling confessed how he feels sometimes: “Of course, I talk to him every day. But I admit it, sometimes I get angry with him, why did you do it, why did you leave us?

A foundation created in his memory

The unfortunate events of his death led his family to create the Tim Bergling Foundation, held in his memory in 2019. “We want to help people see beyond Avicii’s fame,” said Klas Bergling.

His father said that he meant a lot to young people, because his music, his lyrics and his person made him touch the hearts of many.

“At first I didn’t understand why, but then a fan said, ‘Tim was real.’ I understood. Many young people identify with that authenticity, their honesty and their struggles.“he added.

In addition, he talked about the alcohol problems he had due to the excessive touring he had: “I still think that record labels, people who tour, agents and managers should have a driver’s license to show that they are in shape. That’s right. “how artists should be treated.”

Although he felt guilty, several therapists told him: “Many times there is nothing you can do.”
