The adidas Originals brand has joined forces with Taller Jacobo & María Ángeles in a unique collaboration that transforms iconic sneaker silhouettes such as Samba, Gazelle, Rivalry and Forum. Each pair is worked on by master craftsmen, creating unique designs full of originality and qualities typical of collectible works of art.

Located in San Martín Tilcajete, Oaxaca, the workshop is dedicated to interpreting mythical-fantastic creatures using traditional techniques such as copal wood carving and hand painting. The colors and designs reflect the technical skill of the masters, generating a unique dialogue with each part of the adidas silhouettes.

Who are Jacobo & Maria Angeles?

In 1994, Jacobo Ángeles and María del Carmen Mendoza founded the Jacobo & María Ángeles Workshop, a bastion of Mexican art in carving figures in copal wood. Inspired by Zapotec iconography and other Mesoamerican cultures, their works are notable for a painting technique that is now taught as a school. The workshop has not only gained international recognition as a pillar of popular art in Mexico, but has also made a commitment to sustainability and community, actively participating in exhibitions and conferences around the world.
