Phoebe Gatesthe youngest daughter of Bill Gates and Melinda French Gatesis in the news this week for two reasons: on the one hand, she has graduated from Stanford University (with a degree in Biology) and her mother was in charge of giving the speech during the ceremony (which was also attended by her father, who divorced Melinda in 2021). And, on the other hand, she confirmed for the first time that she is in a relationship with Arthur Donald, grandson of Paul McCartney.
The young couple – he is 25 and she is 21 – had already shared some images of themselves together on Instagram last autumn in Paris and posed this year in the premiere from the miniseries Feud: Capote vs. The Swans in New York, so it was no secret, but This is the first time Phoebe refers to Arthur as her “boyfriend.”
He did it in a graduation photo album which he shared through Nylon and in which he also included personal comments to accompany each image:
“My boyfriend, Arthur, driving me after the ceremony,” Gates captioned a photo of Donald giving her a piggyback ride.
Arthur is the eldest son of photographer Mary McCartney and her ex-husband, the television producer Alistair Donald, and he for his part has already finished his university studies (in History) after studying at the University College School in London and then at Yale, and now works as an investor in New York.
Phoebe Gates had until now refused to give details about the relationship, even when publications such as Bustle They asked her directly about her, but it is speculated that her aunt, the famous designer Stella McCartney, may have had something to do with the young people meeting each other. Stella is close friends with Melinda and last summer she collaborated with Phoebe to design a capsule collection to honor the Women’s Tennis Association and the 50th anniversary of the US Open.
