Manuel Turizo, “God take care of you” (La Industria Inc.)

YouTube Poster

After we start dancing bachata and merengue, Manuel Turizo — who just received this week the SESAC Latina award for pop/Latin rhythm composer of the year with his brother Julián — continues to show his versatility with a heartbreaking ballad of heartbreak. Produced by Rafa Rodríguez, and driven primarily by a guitar and the Colombian singer’s husky, penetrating voice, “Dios te cuide” is a mature declaration of love and resilience after a breakup. “May God take care of you baby, may he keep you / And may he forget, baby, where he kept you / So that you don’t break my heart again,” Turizo sings in the chorus with pain. Accompanied by an introspective music video that captures the feeling of loneliness after a breakup, “Dios te cuide” is the title track of what will be Turizo’s fourth studio album, titled 201 and plans to launch later this year. — SIGAL RATNER-ARIAS

Xavi, “OOTD” (Interscope Records)

Since finding success with anthemic songs like “La Diabla” and “La Victim,” Xavi has kept the momentum going this year with “Corazón de Piedra,” which topped the Regional Mexican Airplay chart in May. Now, he arrives with a new single titled “OOTD” that, while staying true to the romantic lounge style for which he is known, is a bit more upbeat. With some requintos and his hoarse and dominant voice, “OOTD” stands out for being a happy song that even softens Xavi’s voice. The single is a preview of what is to come, as Xavi is currently in the studio working on an upcoming album. — GRISELDA FLORES

Buscabulla, “11:11” (Domino Recording)

Puerto Rican duo Buscabulla, composed of Raquel Berrios and Luis Del Valle, released “11:11,” their first single in four years. The electronic pop track takes its name from the angelic number that emphasizes the brevity of life. The song explores the theme of purpose and accomplishment, with verses such as “I can’t, baby, finish what I started/ Sometimes I want to escape/ The moment is leaving me/ And I don’t know if I can come back,” performed in the Berrios’ ethereal vocal style. Her return comes after collaborations with Alex Anwandter on the disco-pop song “Mi vida en llamas” (2023), Bad Bunny on the outstanding “Andrea” (2022), and her debut album Came back (2020). The accompanying video, directed by Jorge “Fish” Rodriguez, shows Berrios in a house built on a stage, with everything completely white, compulsively cleaning, which adds a layer of performance art at launch. — ISABELA RAYGOZA

Maria Becerra, Trueno, Big One, “When I saw you | CROSSOVER #5” (Fifty One)

Argentine hitmaker Big One has released an EP featuring five major crossovers. His latest creation is “Cuando Te Vi | Crossover #5,” a collaboration with Maria Becerra and Trueno. The provocative, futuristic reggaeton track combines Becerra’s sweet, melodious vocals with Trueno’s impeccable rap bars. Lyrically, the song is a conversation between two people: one who has vowed not to fall in love and the other who doubts it. “When I saw you I knew it was going to happen/ I promised myself I wasn’t going to fall in love/ But fuck that“I love that body/ You made it so delicious for me that it’s hard for me not to call you,” sings the Argentine artist, who also flaunts her English skills in the song. — JESSICA ROIZ

Alvaro Soler, “I imagined you” (Epic Local)

YouTube Poster

Spanish-German singer-songwriter Alvaro Soler releases “Te Imaginaba”, a song that evokes classic romanticism and celebrates innocent love. The acoustic pop track with an island feel is perfect for this warm (boreal) season of the year. “I imagined you/ Having breakfast kisses in bed/ Waking up next to you every morning/ And if we fight, let it be with the pillow/ As I imagined you,” says the chorus of the tender song. “I imagined you” is accompanied by a visualizer where you can see Soler singing in front of the camera while traveling through beautiful landscapes. The song is ideal for a newly in love who may end up at an altar. — LUISA CALLE
