Can you imagine finding out that an item of yours is being sold online for $12,500? All of this, without knowing, of course, that the item was no longer in your possession. Well, this is exactly what happened to good old Dave Davies, Kinks legend.

The artist revealed through his social networks the great inconvenience he was facing. And it is that his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame award was selling for $12,500 on eBay. Apparently, this award was put up for sale on the website some time after a storage locker of the type made famous on TV shows like Storage Wars was found at auction. We recall that The Kinks were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

Davies could not believe it when he saw that the trophy was for sale on that famous online sales platform. In fact, as the artist has revealed, he believes that He may have lost track of the award around 2004, when he suffered a stroke. This is what Davies himself has recounted in several posts on social network X:

“This auction makes me very sad. I lost track of my prize years ago and didn’t know where it was. If the person bought it from a department store, it may have been around the time of my stroke in 2004, when I was incapacitated in the UK.”.

“I am grateful to have made a complete record of my stroke, but It’s a shame they didn’t contact me.. I guess this is what happened”.

“We have written to the seller and are waiting for a response. I don’t want to have to pay 12,000 to get my prize back. But maybe we can reach a more reasonable agreement.”.

THE RESOLUTION

The good news for Davies is that The sellers have removed the advertisement and they have contacted him. “I am trying to resolve the issue of getting my RRHOF award back. After discussing it and looking at old receipts, I only had a storage unit whose payments never came in. “I emptied that warehouse myself a few years ago and didn’t find my prize.”

“I have no problem with Colony Records, They bought it in good faith from a legitimate seller. It had changed hands many times. We are reaching an agreement to get it back when my trip is over. “They have been very helpful and communicative.”
