On the night of this Friday, May 26, the bassist, guitarist and composer Juan Carlos Formell Alfonso, a member of the Cuban group Los Van Van, died in New York City and in full concert.

According to various reports, the artist died after feeling bad on the stage and as a result of a heart attack.

It is worth noting that the bassist was the son of Juan Formell, founding director of the Los Van Van Orchestra.

Juan Carlos Formell began to feel bad approximately 45 minutes after the concert that took place on the stage of the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts in The Bronx, New York, had begun.

In this sense, the presentation of Los Van Van had to be interrupted, since, as seen in images that were published on social networks, all the musicians left the stage, due to the confusion generated by the event.

It wasn’t until approximately 10 minutes after the performers left the stage that the curtain came down, creating expectation in the audience that the show would be cancelled.

Subsequently, the members of the musical band returned to the stage to continue with the show without the bass player who was taken to the nearest hospital, according to information exposed by the EFE news agency.

Four ambulances and two fire trucks arrived at the theater.

Despite the confusion generated among those attending the event, the group did not comment and began to play “Sandunguera”.

Minutes later, Robertón, one of the singers, introduced Sebastián, a Uruguayan bassist, and later, Lele, another of the singers, indicated that the musician was there to enjoy the show, but ended up playing on stage.

The Cuban group started their tour of the United States with this concert, which would continue at the San Francisco carnival and on Sunday in San Diego (California), to later continue the tour in Europe; however, after this event, it is unknown if the tour is still on.
