“This is not the first time that Mr. Milei has offended the Colombian president. The Argentine president’s expressions have deteriorated the confidence of our nation, in addition to offending the dignity of President Petro, who was democratically elected,” reads the statement shared by the Colombian Foreign Ministry.

For this reason, the entity led by the chancellor, Luis Gilberto Murillo, ordered the expulsion of diplomats from the Argentine Embassy in Colombia.” The determination comes after Milei, in the middle of an interview with the CNN media, referred to Petro as a “terrorist murderer.”

This is the third time that the Argentine president refers negatively to President Petro, who chose to call the ambassador in Argentina Camilo Romero for consultations at the beginning of 2024. By the way, the diplomat mentioned in his X account: “Zero and go three. It is clear that every time you ask Javier Milei about Gustavo Petro he will respond with insults.”

The measure taken by the Colombian government implies a tacit break in relations with that country, since it reduces binational communication to the most basic scale of diplomacy and opens another front of international confrontation to the Casa de Nariño, which already has a difficult dialogue. with Venezuela and Israel.

According to diplomatic reports, the Argentine ambassador, Gustavo Dzugala, would have a maximum of 72 hours to leave with his delegation from Colombia, which would also leave the at least 10,000 nationals of that country who currently live in national territory waiting.
