Illegal armed actors would be interfering with the PAE in Huila

The normal development of the PAE in the department is threatened by the intervention of armed groups.

The governor of Huila, Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera, has raised the alarm about a worrying situation that affects the normal development of the School Feeding Program (PAE) in some municipalities in the region. According to the president’s statements, irregular forces and illegal actors would be interfering in this vital program, putting the nutrition and permanence of students in the classrooms at risk.

“This is a very serious issue”Villalba stressed, highlighting the importance of the PAE as a strategy not only nutritional, but also to guarantee the educational continuity of students. The program, which has the support of the National and departmental Government, involves demanding public contracting that involves various operators and actors.

Faced with this situation, the governor has taken immediate measures, informing the competent authorities and requesting the collaboration of public forces to address the problem. In addition, he has alerted the National Government’s peace process verification mission and UN officials, urging them to take action and bring the complaint to the negotiation table.

Villalba emphasized that this interference constitutes a violation of Human Rights, especially the fundamental right to education and food. The PAE, protected by the National Constitution and International Law, must be exempt from any type of intervention by illegal actors.

In the midst of this worrying scenario, the governor’s call is clear: action must be taken with determination to safeguard Huila students’ access to adequate food and quality education, without allowing illegitimate interests to put their development and well-being at risk.
