The authorities held a Security Council after the latest violent and public order events in Guaviare. The meeting was attended by the spokespersons of the public force, the Prosecutor’s Office, the four mayors, the Attorney General’s Office and Governor Yeison Rojas.
Colonel Alexander Obando, commander of the Guaviare Police Department, indicated that investigations are underway to clarify the four homicides in the rural area of Miraflores. The first hypotheses indicate the first front of the FARC, as those responsible for the murders. All acts of violence and public order are reported to the Monitoring and Verification Mechanism.
With the recent cases of thefts from commercial premises in San José del Guaviare, the officer explained that investigations continue but that there is not enough evidence for those responsible to be deprived of their liberty.
“We are compiling both with the investigators of the CTI and the Judicial Police the flagrencies that we have committed to have sufficient material elements of evidence and the necessary physical evidence so that those people who are committing these thefts here are safe from justice. “, he claimed.
So far this year, there have been 143 thefts of motorcycles, people, businesses and cell phones in the department. 20 people have been captured for theft crimes and 16 motorcycles, seven cell phones and three scythes and gas cylinders have been recovered.
Investigators have identified five people as those responsible for the robberies at commercial establishments and added that they all act independently. “We already know who are those who are committing the thefts, we already know the names, we have fully identified them and we are going to capture them,” said the Police commander.
Finally, he added that four members of the Nukak ethnic group were arrested for attacking the uniformed officers who arrived to answer a call from a merchant who reported the theft of a computer by a member of this indigenous people.
