Silvina Gandini’s artistic history was marked by fire when she launched her book-album last year Land Relevé. Now, the material transfers the Highway to Buenos Aires and is available at the International Book Fair in Buenos Aires.
The mega event in honor of reading that began the last weekend of April on the property of the Rural Society, will take place until Monday, May 13 and will feature Gandini’s work at the Santa Fe Stand, which he presented in Rosario with a multimedia show that fused music, songs, dance and projections. On this occasion, the artist from Rosario will dialogue with the public on Saturday the 11th, from 4 p.m., in said space (stand 3015, located in the Ocre pavilion).
With texts by Gandini herself, the prologue by Liliana Vitale and the design and editing by Daiana Henderson, Laborde Libros published this unique, incomparable artistic piece, in which, through its pages and the QR codes on them, You will be able to listen to Gandini’s unreleased songs.
“The creation of an album-book consisted expressly of telling the conceptual story of a process. Let it be interactive with music, with a massive reach based on the technology that we all have access to such as a cell phone. With it I also wanted to show all poetic art and its search in relation to sound with high image quality, thus reaching an art object in its primary definition,” described the artist and teacher.
Those who know Gandini know that labels are not his thing, which is why he decided to surprise with the creation of this material: “The breaking of the established is part of my essence. But fundamentally this also arose as a search for solutions, given the difficulty that musicians have today in being able to translate our music into a real format; CDs and vinyl are not freely accessible to everyone today. Everything is on the networks. And how can we sell our work today? It seemed like a poetic fact to me to make a book –disco, of interaction and why not playful with the public. Another way of arrival. I don’t know of any material similar to the one proposed, I dare say that it is the first in the conceptual format.”
In his history Gandini now has seven albums: as Centon of life (1999), On the road (2003), Return (2007), The Tempest (2016- original music from a play of the same name), Human Resources (2020), Water (2021) and Land Relevé (2023). In addition, the singles “Amar” (2022, central theme of the film Surfing the skyby Mariana Wenger) and “Nada es para siempre” (2021, electric arrangement of the theme by Fito Páez).
On the other hand, like many artists, Gandini put in Tierra Relevé his soul at the service of music, especially tribute to his parents and one of his great musical idols: Gustavo Cerati.
Regarding the reference to her parents, Silvina Gandini said: “I have to tell my own story, how art encompasses everything. It is not a need of the ego, but rather a need of life, which in a pandemic managed to locate itself and rescue me in an explosion of life-love. Within the framework of it I lost my parents; first my mother, Doña Adelina, and then my father, Don Gandini, because I didn’t know what to do with her life without her. Two loving, picturesque characters, whose essences I recognize more and more in myself.” And she continued: “Pain teaches us what is true and leads us to connect with the deepest being. It allowed me to concatenate the productions that were freely released into the world at the time, in a genuine development. As a tribute to the love they had for each other, I dedicate this work with infinite thanks.”
