At the end of the First Bogotá and Cundinamarca Regional Meeting, organized by Fenalco Bogotá this Wednesday, the governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Emilio Rey, confirmed that the third Metro Line will reach Soacha. Likewise, phase 2, 3 and even 4 of TransMilenio would be in operation by December 2025, and the construction of the Aerial Cable that would connect with La Calera would take place.

“15% of the route of this Line will be in Soacha. And we are going to participate with resources in the structuring of the project, but also in the execution of the work. So, we are pleased that Mayor Galán has said ‘yes, we are interested.’ It is true that the department has grown in technical capacity to lead this type of projects,” Rey said in an interview with the media Vía Pública Colombia.

Given this announcement, El Espectador consulted Luis Lota, director of the Metropolitan Region, who provided more details and shed light on its financing. “The feasibility will continue, this is what both the governor and the Mayor announced, these days around the Metropolitan Region. From the entity we are going to invest close to $33,000 million to bring this project to a feasibility level and after that the co-financing process must continue. But yes, we are going to work hand in hand to structure it.”

And he added that later for Soacha will come the “review of other infrastructure projects that we are going to accompany, such as the Tibanica Bridge or the structuring of an articulated transport system.”

The third line of the Metro is in pre-feasibility studies, which are being analyzed by the IDU, as to whether the route would begin in Soacha, pass through Bosa and when it reaches Villa del Río it would take the railway network from the south to the center; or, on the contrary, the route would be from Soacha, but connecting the southwest with the northwest of Bogotá and therefore, with the two Metro lines.

Precisely, the second Metro Line is already in the international bidding process to select the concessionaire, while the First Metro Line is 30.86% complete and would be delivered in the first quarter of 2028.
