The Minister of Security of Argentina, Patricia Bullrichsaid that the government led by Javier Milei will expedite the return to our country of Galvarino Apablazaformer member of the Manuel Rodríguez Patriotic Front accused of being the author of the murder of Jaime Guzmán and the kidnapping of Cristián Edwards in 1991, who was a political refugee in the trans-Andean country.

Apablaza had been in Argentina since 1994. After the extradition request from Chile, former president Cristina Fernández granted him the status of political refugee, which is why the request from the Chilean justice system was denied.

In this regard, Minister Patricia Bullrich assured that as a Government they activated the Apablaza case with the justice system, as stated to UDI parliamentarians and in an interview with CNN Chile.

“We believe that it is fair that Argentina has not only removed the refuge administratively, but that justice also speaks and finishes closing a case that is clear that it is not a case of a refuge for political persecution, but for having committed murders ”, he indicated.

“Argentina is not going to be a land that keeps murderers“But we are speeding up and asking the justice system to speed up the time to resolve the case,” he said.

In that sense, Patricia Bullrich pointed out that they want Galvarino Apablaza to be in our country as soon as possible.

“That is the decision we have made as a Government and we are in talks with the Justice Department so that this does not last forever,” he concluded.
