A report of Military intelligence revealed an alleged plan of the dissidents of the FARC Central General Staff to kidnap the deputies of the assemblies of Valle and Cauca. The corporations asked to redouble the measures to guarantee their safety.
The information indicates that the Carlos Patiño front of this dissident group would be executing a plan to try to kidnap the officials of both corporations. The apparent plan already has authorities on alert.
“It is information that we are verifying and verifying with our human intelligence sources, and until now we are working on that information, but so far we do not have verification or a strong threat.”said Colonel Giovanni Cristancho Zambrano, commander of the Valle Department Police.

In the alert, the Army recalled the kidnapping of the 12 Valle deputies in 2002 at the hands of the extinct FARC guerrilla. Therefore, they asked to redouble efforts to guarantee the safety of officials.
“In light of this, we are carrying out patrol actions in each one of the places where the deputies live. We are activating sources of information and for example in the assembly we are reinforcing with police to prevent, we are with all the security protocols,” Cristancho added.

Since last March 17, the departments of Valle, Cauca and Nariño have been the scene of an armed confrontation between the dissidents of “Iván Mordisco” and the Public Force after the president Gustavo Petro decided to suspend the ceasefire with those illegals.
