This Friday morning, an important operation was carried out in the city of Córdoba by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, which resulted in the kidnapping of 26 spare tires and the arrest of a 27-year-old man.

The detainee is an older man, 27 years old, who lived in the San Roque neighborhood. An advanced electronic system called an ECU was found at his home. “What this system does is inhibit the cars with inhibitors and once the car is opened they look for a key card to disconnect it and connect it to this ECU device, managing to turn off all the security systems,” explained Bevilacqua.
The commissioner also reported that this person was the recipient and distributor of the stolen tires: “So much so that three zero kilometer motorcycles were kidnapped, which were used to go out and steal tires.”

Regarding the monetary value, Bevilacqua estimates that what was kidnapped in the operation is between 30 and 40 million pesos.
The commissioner recommended that the population install steering wheel locks, look for systems to chain the covers to the vehicle or fix the cover with a screw.
The increase in tire thefts in the city of Córdoba has led to a significant increase in administrative work for insurance producers, according to Marcos Spacecci, president of the Association of Insurance Producers of Córdoba (APAS). “Our goal of producing is to grow the portfolio, it is evaporating in dealing with claims,” he told Chain 3.
Spacecci explained that the theft focuses mainly on truck wheels due to their high cost. “There are wheels that cost up to one million eight hundred thousand pesos,” he commented. Furthermore, he added that these robberies are not limited to specific areas but occur throughout the city.
