‘Gru 4. Despicable Me’ opens in theaters on July 3, with Gru in a more committed family and professional situation than ever. As we saw in the first trailer, the birth of his fourth child, Gru Jr., will break the family dynamic and become a headache for him, Lucy and the girls.
Now, the second trailer shows us the other great concern of the first villain and now hero, the diabolical duo formed by Maxime Le Mal and Valentina, which will turn upside down their stability, that of the Anti-Villain League and that of the world itself. To combat the couple, the Anti-Villain League has prepared a new secret weapon: a super serum that turns Minions… into Megaminions.
Thus, five Minions will have powers like power to fly, extreme strength, elasticity, or an eye that releases rays. The objective is clear, defeat Maxime Le Mal and Valentina. But how much will they end up destroying in the process?
Along with the trailer, Universal has released a new movie posterin which we see one of the Minions turned into a superhero capable of shattering everything with his wide, hard teeth.
In search of the 5,000 million
The saga of ‘Gru. Despicable Me’ is one of the highest-grossing movies in film history. In total, adding the three films of the original franchise plus the two Minions spin-offs, the Gru universe has raised 4.65 billion dollars. Almost nothing.
Curiously, the lowest grossing was the first, which earned $545 million. From then on, all of them have touched or exceeded 1,000 million. Taking into account that the installments of the saga have a budget of around 75 million per film, we are undoubtedly facing one of the most profitable products for Universal and Illumination, not counting merchandising.
With ‘Despicable Me 4’, the saga will enter the select group of franchises with more than $5 billion in revenue. And what they have left…
