The Carabineros and Environmental Protection section of the Atlántico Police Department managed to recover 12 heads of cattle that had been stolen from a farm in the Puente Caimán sector, El Carretico trail, in the municipality of Campo de la Cruz. According to the authorities, through the recent implementation of a rural security front in the area, the telephone tree and WhatsApp group were activated, made up of farmers, farm caretakers and police, to together block the way to rustlers.

“This constant interaction between the police and the rural community led to the possible theft of 12 livestock from a farm, since the owner of the livestock carried out the last count and realized the shortage. Possible escape routes were immediately secured and checkpoints were installed to prevent vehicles transporting said livestock from entering or leaving,” the report says.

He adds that, throughout the night, a group of police combed the area, approximately 5 kilometers around, managing to find the batch of cattle, which, perhaps due to pressure, they left abandoned in a pasture on the El Carretico trail, managing to thwart this theft.

The authorities did not report any arrests for this incident, however they are investigating to find the whereabouts of those responsible.
