A few days before the parade to celebrate this May Day in the Plaza de la Revolución Serafín Sánchez Valdivia in Sancti Spíritus, the heirs of the legacy of the famous Sancti Spíritus patriot are putting effort and creativity to promote the main productive lines of the province.
An intense hustle and bustle distinguishes the workdays prior to International Workers’ Day in various production and service centers in the province, with emphasis on increasing physical production and the quality of services.
The current harvest has the goal of producing the greatest amount of sugar possible despite the complexities of this campaign, a commitment of the sugar producers evident after the recent visit to the Melanio Hernández Agroindustrial Sugar Company in the municipality of Taguasco, by the First Secretary of the Party Communist of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
The management of aquaculture stands out, consolidating a productive leap from the increase in catches in the final days of April. The fishermen of the Sancti Spíritus Fishing Company (Pescaspir) go the extra mile by maintaining catch levels above 20 tons in each task, taking advantage of the low water level in the Zaza Dam, the largest reservoir in the country, and the manifestation of the fish.
Other entities with great impact on the chain of the territorial economy join the goals, such as the Egg Tray Production Plant in Jatibonico, the Non-Agricultural Cooperative (CNA) La Esperanza de Fomento, the Meat Company, the Río Zaza Dairy that , after the entry of raw materials and the increase in milk supplies, resumed the production of soy yogurt, cheese and ice cream.

He adds to his merits the Grand Prize in the First Exhibition in the field of trade and investments, ExpoYayabo 2024, which concluded this Saturday in the provincial capital of Sancti Spiritus.

Since the beginning of April, after the launch of the call, commemorative activities began in the province, distinguished by volunteer work in agricultural areas; recognition of outstanding workers and groups; the beautification of centers and, in more than forty towns and communities throughout the territory of Sancti Spiritus, popular rallies were held to commemorate International Workers’ Day.
