Popular music singer Sebastián Muñoz was murdered along with three other people at an event in Corinto. The events occurred in the midst of a massacre in Cauca last Friday, April 26.

The hitman attack left four people murdered in the 20 de Agosto neighborhood, among them was the musician with JJ Villegas, his stage presenter. According to police reports, armed men entered the house where the private event was taking place and fired indiscriminately.

JJ Villegas, Muñoz’s colleague and friend, traveled with the Cali artist to perform at the small concert. His press team mourned his death with a statement in which they expressed: “With deep pain, the manager and his work team officially announce that the artist Sebastián Muñoz and his presenter on stage, DJ JJ Villegas, died on the night of December 26. April in confusing events in the municipality of Corinto”.

Although the names of the other two people killed have not been made public, it is known that a woman was injured in the middle of the firefight and was subsequently referred to a nearby medical center.

Who was Sebastián Muñoz?

Sebastián Muñoz, better known as “the king of parties”, was born in Cali and was one of the most recognized figures of popular music in Colombia.

Among his most listened to songs are ‘For the good or the bad’, ‘Soy del Cauca’ and ‘They will forget about me’. However, he had released his most popular song three months ago with the title of his nickname and seemed to predict his death: “the day I die, as much as I want, may my farewell be as I was in life (..) When I’m in the holy field I don’t want to hear crying, and instead of prayers, play my songs, open Buchanan’s, let the guitars play and have a party.”
