In La Dorada (Caldas), the Magdalena Centro High Complexity Hospital, vital for emergency care in the region, is threatened by a debt of $33 billion that compromises its operation and the well-being of its employees.

La Dorada (Caldas), April 29, 2024 – The Magdalena Centro High Complexity Hospital is in a critical financial situation, with accumulated debts amounting to $33 billion from Nueva EPS and Coosalud EPS. Despite having opened its doors seven months ago, the institution has not received the corresponding payments for the services provided.

In a press conference, the hospital manager, Natalia García, expressed her concern about the lack of solutions from entities such as the National Health Superintendence and the Ministry of Health. The management of the crisis has required obtaining financial credits to cover the salaries of approximately 500 employees and contractors.

García warns that without a short-term revenue stream, the hospital will face difficulty meeting its labor obligations. “Since September of last year, we have been caring for patients from all the EPS in the department, but the resources we receive are insufficient to cover the operational and logistical costs of a hospital of this size,” declared the manager.

The hospital, which provides services to the population of La Dorada and affiliates from nearby municipalities such as Samaná, La Victoria, Marquetalia, Honda and Puerto Boyacá, has attempted to make conciliations with the EPS involved, however, an effective dialogue has not been established. for the verification and resolution of the pending portfolio.
