A soccer player died this Sunday afternoon, while participating in a match corresponding to the Bellavistense League, between Citrex de Bella Vista and Pedro Ferré. The match was played on the field of the General San Martín club.
The referee of the match, in statements to Ñande Cable, commented that the situation occurred 10 minutes into the second half, when the player Ángel Elías Ojeda, 23 years old, belonging to Pedro Ferré, collided with the wall after a required play.
“Ferré’s player was with the ball, in a required play on the end line. He threw a cross and had a mark on it. In contact with the Citrex player, the Ferré player could not stop and hit the wall,” the referee explained.
After the hit, Ojeda began to convulse and chaos ensued on the court.
Subsequently, the young man was taken to the El Salvador hospital in the aforementioned town, where he was diagnosed with a serious head injury, which ended up costing him his life a few minutes later, the health center reported to THE LIBERATOR.
People who were on the field reported that there was no ambulance during the game.
