The Government of Chubut reported that next Wednesday, May 1, the Continental Sport Fishing Season officially concludes in the rivers and lakes of the provincial territory.

The Directorate of Inland Fisheries reminded the population that, in accordance with the provisions of the current regulations, the following week ends the period authorized for the practice.

From the provincial body with headquarters in Esquel, Rudy Murúa explained that the 2023-2024 season has only five days left and that at that point, the vast majority of aquatic environments will be closed to sport fishing.

At the same time, he highlighted that lovers of this activity have the entire weekend ahead of them, also adding to the two holidays stipulated in the calendar for Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1, Commemoration of the Plebiscite of 1902 and the Labor Day.

The Chubut official also specified that in the case of Río Grande, located near the town of Trevelin and the international crossing with the neighboring country of Chile, the possibility of sport fishing extends until May 31.

He then said that starting next week the Management will begin to process the final numbers and the most salient data of the season. Despite this, he highlighted the movement of fishermen registered in these six months and valued the number of permits sold.

Finally, Murúa made it clear that the Natural Resources Inspectorate will continue to carry out control and inspection work in the rivers and lakes of the province in order to protect the fish resource and prevent poaching.
