Cuba invited businessmen, experts and academics from around the world to participate in the XV International Construction Fair (Fecons) and its scientific conference, which will take place here in April 2026.

The announcement put a final close this Friday to the 14th edition of the event, which featured 132 exhibiting companies of construction materials and systems, manufacturing technologies and services associated with the activity, from 16 countries.

According to the estimate of the first vice minister of Construction (Micons) in Cuba, Ángel Vilaragurt, the Fecons 2024 scientific conference was also successful, addressing key topics on the global challenges of the sector and technological advances in its different branches.

Among the topics analyzed were the challenges for modern design, developments in the field of applied research and environmentally friendly materials, he commented.

In the context of the event, three collaboration agreements were signed in undergraduate matters, between the State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering of Novosibirsk (Russia), and the Cuban universities of Camagüey, “Marta Abreu” of Las Villas and the CUJAE -Technological University of Havana, the official announced.

For postgraduate studies, the Russian academic center sealed another commitment to cooperation, in that case with the Micons branch school for improvement, detailed the director, who thanked the Eurasian country for its help, which held the status of guest of honor in Fecons-2024.

Vilaragurt also highlighted the start of a professional training program between now and 2030 for the modernization and high qualification of construction managers and professionals on the island, agreed between the governments of Cuba and Russia.

This initiative will allow the exchange of knowledge and access to the most modern technologies for the manufacture of construction materials; as well as new industrialized construction systems and the use of digital technologies during the processes, he indicated.

In statements to journalists, the president of the National Union of Architects and Construction Engineers of Cuba (Unaicc), Antonio Guerrero, appreciated the scientific knowledge transmitted by Russian academics and the contacts in the business field.

“A path has been opened for interrelation around different topics of our national development and we are going to work very hard on professional training,” said the Unaicc representative.

During the closing day, the awards and usual mentions of the event, which meets in Havana every two years, were also presented.
